the best weapon to slow him down is the Stryker during the first two compartments, then use a magnum when he mutates in the third.
remember where your switches are, don't stop to fight U3, just run for your switches and hit the dodge commands when they come up, if you're fast enough, you'll only have to shoot U3 once with the Stryker in the first 2 compartments.
In the last compartment; shoot him with the magnum after he mutates, run straight through the dark pathway and find your switches, you'll have to backtrack through the dark hallway to hit the second switch. dodge everytime, and hit him once with the magnum if he stands still in front of you.
hopefully that helps a little; but I'll warn you, the real battle hasn't even begun until you fight him on the ground. try and trap him behind the bars, make sure you hit him with both red exploding barrels, and run! keep your distance, when he goes underground, be ready to dodge about 5-6 attacks in a row. the killer7 probably is the best magnum you'll use against U3; plus you're gonna need it for fighting Krauser on the bridge.

glad i could give a few suggestions to help you out. I've beaten Pro on GCN and the Wii; and once you've beaten Pro mode, the challenge is over, unless you still need to unlock the Handcannon in mercs. Or you could try and beat this guys high-score in mercs.... youtube.com/watch?v=AXtCK4xPSAc part 1youtube.com/watch?v=EcmxdbCS8ks part 2that dudes insane, lol thanks for the avi compliment.

Shit man, I can only dream of a combo like that, I can only get 4 Star ranks as I suck as Mercs. The only weapon I have left to get is the Handcannon and it's unlocked through the one minigame I suck at! >_<

i got to got to work now. but i'll see what kinda of info i can give you for a merc's help thread or something. but they have videos for all characters on all levels at YouTube, should give you an idea on how to rack up the best combos. there's even a "neckbreaker ballad" where a guy plays as HUNK and ONLY uses neckbreakers

I pwnz at the mercs... After sucking on the GC version, the PS2 was cake. I suppose I was better used to the controlls.
Edit: Too bad the neckbreaker dosn't wortk on wolverine, or Dick Chainy (JJ) or Chainey 2 (ginat Dr. Salvador).
