Like I've said before in many other things, RE4 was only a huge hit for 2 main reasons: 1. Being a Resident Evil game 2. Leon is the main character.
Other than that, it was...I think I've made my point.

Theres more than 30 most likely. Resident Evil, in most cases, its best played with others around. I love to see my buddies jump out of their chair when they hear Neme's rocket launcher xD

Being so bent on RE4 being the best, you already forgot a line Krauser said during the knife fight.
Krauser," All for Umbrella..." Leon," Umbrella?"
With Krauser saying that, Umbrella isn't gone. I thought you would of seen that one though?
Oh and the cliche about some company making a virus, there really isn't one. 28 weeks later was just mutated rabies, Dawn of the Dead gave no answer, Land of the Dead gave no answer or I didn't catch it, Shawn of the Dead gave a small but not noticable answer. Notice a trend here? No real answer to the zombie outbreaks have been given. Haven't seen I Am Legend yet so dunno there.
The man-made virus can't be clasified as cliche. Only 2 other things use the man-made virus: House of the Dead series and Dead Rising. Cliche is something that has been done numerous times. An ancient evil/parasite has been done numerous times.

Like Foxy said, AI is only good for combat, yet on some levels you may find them holding an item needed to complete the level. I've seen it happen more than once on Desperate Times, Decisions, Decisions, Wild Things, Underbelly, and Flashback.
The AI is smart at the same time stupid.

So rants someone from the "RE4 is the best RE game ever!" group. Seriously, The only things about RE4 that even makes it related to the series is Leon, Wesker, and Ada. NOTHING ELSE! All they did was through in some "ancient parasite" cliche crap and built a game around it. It was doing better when it was the main plot device was a man-made virus. I can understand that better than some cliched crap. The ancient parasite cliche has been around for who knows how long, Capcom just took that old theroy and made a RE game around it hoping that it'll bring fans into something new.
With the level designs and creatures, however, I can't agrue that they weren't bad. Basicly RE4 creatures were, put in RE terms, T-Virus mutations. The major difference was that RE4 creatures were just people being controlled by a parasite, which inturn was being controlled by some Cult leader (which is another cliche theme as well).
Other than that, RE4 is the 2nd most horrible Resident Evil game, standing under RE Mobile. Survivor and Dead Aim were better than RE4!
P.S. Another thing, I do say RE5 will beat RE4 easily, even though its another cliche theme again. Can't really say its cliche yet since there isn't any information on what the thing causing them to go psycho is.

I've played CT3 and I never noticed that. You're right though, they attack in the same manner and move the same way. Capcom must of gotten lazy and just resprited the Axeman from Sledgehammer
